About Austin

I currently work as a freelance breaking and trending news editor for FOX Sports, where I have contributed to coverage of several tentpole sports events such as the 2022 World Series, the 2022 FIFA Men’s World Cup, Super Bowl LVII and the 2023 World Baseball Classic. My primary role at FOX Sports is to identify and write about what sports fans are talking about on social media, whether it be breaking news of a blockbuster trade or a funny interaction between teammates on the sideline or on Twitter.

I have been writing and creating multimedia content about sports in one form or another since I was 16 years old. I received my B.A. in journalism from Biola University in May 2020. While there, I worked as sports editor, managing editor and senior sports columnist for Biola’s award-winning student newspaper, The Chimes. I also interned at NBC Los Angeles, Medium Large LA and Biola’s athletics department. I am studying for my M.A. in sports journalism at the Arizona State University Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, where I serve as a graduate assistant for the Reynolds Center for Business Journalism. I most recently worked for Cronkite News, the news division of Arizona PBS, as a sports broadcast producer as well as a digital reporter and social media producer.

I have also worked as a freelance high school sports reporter for Outlook Newspapers in the Pasadena, Calif. area and for AZPreps365 in the greater Phoenix area. I also contribute to SB Nation’s Arizona State blog, House of Sparky, and Los Angeles Lakers blog, Silver Screen and Roll, primarily doing game coverage.
